Take a Trip down Route 66
Taking a road trip along the Historical Highway Route 66 today isn't the same as it was in the 60's. But it still has it's adventures and stories to share to all.
Merchants along the Historical Highway Route 66 have been disappearing over the years as small town USA dries up and moves away.
Having lived in one of the small towns that the highway passed through town center I understand the difficulty that some merchants in small towns are experiencing.
When Walmart moved in the last of 2 small general stores closed their doors. It wasn't profitable anymore competing against giant corporations and Chinese imported products.
One merchant selling cast iron cookware knew that it was only a matter of time and when that time came the store that was a 1928 railroaders home was converted back to the small home that it once was.
Just about 2,500 miles of gas stations, diners, hotels, motels, trading posts, gift shops, coffee shops and general merchandise stores lined the road.
You couldn't go for hours without seeing a sign along the road advertising the next rest stop or place to eat.
Fine home style cooking mixed with a friendly small town feel make the character of the highway very pleasant to travel.
Being one that has traveled the route 5 times and daily for years in the small town I lived in I saw from old pictures the deterioration of small town merchants.
From Tepee motels to dirt floor trading posts. Hugh arrows in the ground marked one point along Route 66 and today the longest map still remains in clear view but not to Route 66 but to I-40.
Chicago to LA Route 66 was started in Winslow Arizona to help a few merchants expand their commercial reach and advertise very effectively and affordable in the online community and face off with large corporations.
To level the Business Battle Ground for Small Towns across America we invite any and all business owners near or around the Historical Highway Route 66 to join us and market direct to the consumers that have not had the opportunity to visit your small town off Route 66.
Enjoy the trip and promote your small town merchants by telling them they are not alone and can join our group anytime they are ready we will be around as long as travelers still remember the Mother Road.
